About Social Services
The Clinton Social Services Department assists town residents in need of assistance with regard to applying for various local and state assistance programs, financial, transportation, housing, food, clothing, utility and referral needs.
This Department is made up of Department Director Barbara Small and Coordinator Cheryl Church. Cheryl is also the municipal agent for veteran’s and the elderly for Clinton.
Annual Assistance Programs available to qualified individuals and families:
Heating Assistance – November through April
State Renter’s Rebate Program – Beginning in May
Toys for Tots – Look for sign-up information in the Fall
Secret Santa – Look for sign-up information in the Fall
Holiday Food Baskets – Provides food to those in need for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays
Warm the Children – Provides warm clothing for children in need. Sponsored by the Rotary Club.
Campership Scholarships – Provides funding for children to attend canp

Assistance in Applying for Local, State, and Federal Programs:
SAGA Applications – State program for Medical, food stamps, and cash assistance. www.ct.gov/dss
Social Security State Assistance and Social Security Disability Applications – www.socialsecurity.gov
Muir Trust – The Muir Trust provides assistance with quality of life purchases not covered under a government program such as hearing aids, air conditioners, etc.
Small Cities Grant – The town of Clinton has Community Development Block Grant Funds available for use by income-eligible residential property owners for housing rehabilitation projects approved by the town.
